Our Founder

Myra John

From a young age, I’ve felt a deep calling to make a difference in the lives of children in our communities. This passion led me to pursue a career in nursing, where I had the privilege of working in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and as a Public-School Health Nurse. Throughout my journey, I often witnessed children facing difficult hardships—being suddenly moved into foster care or homelessness, carrying only a few belongings, sometimes none at all. It was in these moments that my mission became very clear.

Determined to help, I reached out to foster parents, social workers, and case workers to better understand the immediate needs of these children during such traumatic transitions. I began to think of these children as my “Angels,” a term that captured their remarkable strength and resilience. What started as a simple effort to support these children has grown into Myra’s Angels Foundation, a team of seven passionate individuals, countless volunteers, and committee members, all united by one common purpose: to make a lasting difference, one bag at a time.

Our mission is simple yet profound: to provide our Angels with loving backpacks filled with essential items, offering them not only physical support but emotional comfort and reassurance during their most difficult times. These “Angel Care Bags” are designed to help ease the stress and psychological burden of sudden change, providing a sense of normalcy, security, and love during an incredibly hard time.

It all began with small drives to collect essential items, carefully packing each bag with care. Today, Myra’s Angels Foundation stands as a testament to the collective impact we’ve made together—bringing love, hope, and comfort into the lives of so many children in need.

One of my most cherished memories comes from a visit to a Children’s Home, where a young girl received her Angel Care Bag. As she pulled each item out, her eyes sparkled with joy. She hugged her stuffed animals, beamed with happiness, and carefully placed everything back into her new, very own bag. Then, with a smile, she dashed off to her room with the bag securely on her back, radiating joy and excitement. That moment reminded me that even the smallest acts of kindness can create ripples of joy that last a lifetime.

Your support is the heart of this work, and together, we can continue to bring hope, comfort, and smiles to children in need.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your unwavering commitment to this cause!

With deep gratitude,
Myra John, RN, BSN
